FAQs

Pilates is designed to be adaptable and can benefit a wide range of bodies, fitness levels, and experience levels. Many clients begin Pilates to improve strength, mobility, posture, body awareness, or simply reconnect with movement in a more intentional way.
We offer two introductory options for new clients:
Two private sessions for $100
Five group classes for $99
While not required, we strongly recommend beginning with private sessions if you are new to Pilates. Starting in a one-on-one setting allows you to become familiar with the equipment, teaching style, and studio environment while receiving individualized guidance tailored to your body and goals.
Many clients find that beginning with private sessions helps them feel more confident and comfortable when transitioning into group classes.

Your instructor will guide you through the class with clear instruction, demonstrations, and guidance throughout your session.
If you are new to Pilates, expect the experience to feel both challenging and educational as you begin learning the equipment, movement patterns, and foundational principles of the practice. Modifications and variations are always offered, and we encourage clients to move at a pace that feels appropriate for their body.
Please arrive 5–10 minutes early for your first visit so we can get you checked in, familiarized with the studio and equipment, and answer any questions you may have before class begins.
If you have any injuries, limitations, or health concerns, we ask that you let your instructor know prior to class so we can best support you.
-
Comfort is most important when choosing what to wear to class. We recommend comfortable movement wear that allows you to move freely throughout your session.
Leggings, joggers, athletic shorts, and comfortable tops are all great options. We simply ask that clothing does not have excessive loose fabric, buttons, or zippers that could get caught on or damage the equipment.
For safety and hygiene, we ask that all clients wear grip socks during class. Grip socks help provide traction and stability on the equipment and are available for purchase at the studio if needed.
If you have long hair, you may also find it more comfortable to bring a hair tie to keep your hair secured during movement.

Yes. Pilates is highly adaptable and can be modified to support a wide range of bodies, fitness levels, movement backgrounds, and physical limitations.
Our instructors offer variations and modifications throughout class to help clients move safely and successfully while still feeling appropriately challenged.
Whether you are brand new to exercise, returning after time away, working around injuries, or looking for a more advanced challenge, movements can often be adjusted to best support your individual needs.
We encourage clients to communicate any injuries, limitations, or concerns with their instructor prior to class so we can help create the best possible experience.

Rather than separating classes strictly by levels, our instructors are trained to offer modifications, variations, and individualized guidance throughout class to help support clients with different experience levels and movement backgrounds.
Because our class sizes are intentionally kept small, instructors are able to provide more personalized attention and help clients work at an appropriate pace and level of challenge for their body.
For clients who are completely new to Pilates, we often recommend beginning with private sessions to help build familiarity with the equipment and foundational movement principles before joining group classes.

Class sizes vary slightly depending on the studio and class format. Our Reformer classes accommodate up to 6 clients in Arroyo Grande and up to 7 clients in Santa Maria. Our Springboard classes, offered exclusively in Arroyo Grande, accommodate up to 5 clients.
We intentionally keep class sizes small to create a more supportive and personalized experience for our clients.

Our teaching is rooted in the Pilates method and draws inspiration from both classical Pilates principles and contemporary movement approaches.
While each instructor brings their own background and teaching style to class, we share a common focus on intentional movement, quality instruction, body awareness, strength, mobility, stability, and control.
Our approach is designed to help clients move more efficiently, build sustainable strength, and develop a deeper understanding of how their body functions as a whole. While classes can absolutely be challenging, the emphasis is not simply on intensity, but on thoughtful movement that supports long term health and well being.

Our teaching is rooted in the Pilates method and inspired by both classical principles and contemporary movement approaches.
Rather than focusing only on intensity or fast paced workouts, we emphasize quality of movement, body awareness, strength, mobility, stability, and control. Our instructors guide clients through movement with intention, helping them better understand how their bodies move and function as a whole.
While classes can absolutely be challenging, the goal is not simply to push harder for one workout. We focus on building balanced, sustainable strength that supports posture, movement efficiency, and long-term well-being.
Many clients notice that Pilates at Pure feels more intentional and technically focused than some fitness focused reformer formats. Breath, alignment, coordination, and whole-body integration are all important parts of the practice and often lead to benefits that extend far beyond the studio.
-
How often you practice Pilates depends on your individual goals, schedule, and lifestyle. Some clients feel great attending once or twice per week, while others prefer a more consistent practice.
Like most forms of movement, consistency tends to provide the greatest benefits over time. Many clients notice improvements in strength, mobility, posture, coordination, and body awareness with regular practice.

To help ensure a safe and supportive experience for all clients, we generally ask that participants be at least 16 years old to attend regular group classes.
Because younger bodies can have different developmental and movement needs, all minors under 18 are required to complete a private introductory session prior to joining group classes. This allows us to better assess readiness for a group setting and provide appropriate guidance and support.
For clients under 16, private sessions may be a better fit depending on age, experience level, and goals. We are also open to exploring youth-specific offerings based on interest. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Classes and private sessions may be canceled without penalty up to 6 hours prior to the scheduled start time. Late cancellations and no shows within the 6 hour window will result in the loss of the class or session.
For unlimited membership holders, a $15 late cancellation or no show fee will be charged to the card on file.
If you are on the waitlist and can no longer attend class, we ask that you remove yourself from the waitlist prior to the 6 hour cancellation window. Clients who are added into class from the waitlist within that window are still subject to the cancellation policy.
